Damage, Healing & Sea Hazards

Ships now carry hull HP: outer seas can hurt you after fishing, and the lagoon is where you repair.

Ships contesting a rough outer sea

The island got sharper teeth. Every ship now tracks hull hit points. Sail the outer seas and the weather can bite — but the central lagoon remains the safe harbor where you patch up and sell your catch.

Environmental hazards

After fishing in an outer sea, the turn resolves an environmental hazard: a dice roll that can deal damage based on how dangerous the zone is. Harder seas hit harder. The lagoon skips this roll entirely — calm water, no storm check.

  • South is the gentlest outer sea; East is the harshest.
  • A bad roll can chip or slam your hull; a good roll may leave you untouched.
  • If hull HP reaches zero, the ship sinks and must recover before sailing again.

Healing & repair

Damage is not permanent doom. At the lagoon you can pay for a full repair when your hull is battered and you still have coins. Managing risk — how far east you push versus when you limp home — is now part of the captain’s craft.
